with Public works in the whole state

The announcement of the duplication of the San Francisco water duct , whose works were already initiated, it is the great mark that the state government is making it possible to guarantee the provisioning of water in the capital. Beyond the 36 million reals just in the first stage, the government is investing about 80 million in public works, objectifying that next summer the population wont suffer anymore with the lack of water. These works are distributed among artesian wells, new water ducts, distribution net, reservoirs and treatment stations. Today, DESO - Companhia de Saneamento de Sergipe produces and it distributes about 8 million liters of water/hour, just in Aracaju, guaranteeing the provision of water in the capital, through four production systems: San Francisco, Poxim, Cabrita and Ibura.

According to official reports, Aracaju is the best capital in the northeast in system of sanitary exhaustion and one of the best in providing water, with more than 120 thousand connections, benefitting 99 percent of its population. "It's a historical mark. We have some problems and we are working to solve them, with a gigantic effort of the governor to make it possible, to benefit the whole population. "Our goal is to reach and to benefit all the citizens with water of good quality" ,stated Arivaldo Andrade, president of DESO . The result obtained by the Company is way above the national average, where 23,8 percent of the population doesn't possess running water . According to Arivaldo Andrade, with the works that are being accomplished by the company in the whole state, 100 percent of the capital will be completely provisioned by next summer.

One of the largest investments accomplished by the state government last year, went to implanting the system of provisioning of water of the whole extension from Atalaia Velha to Mosqueiro, with the investment of more than 7,5 million Reals, benefitting about 155 thousand inhabitants. There are 83 Km of pipelines taking water of good quality to a noble region of Aracaju, guaranteeing it a tourist and social development of great potential. The outlying suburbs of Orlando Dantas and Augusto Franco and other adjacent neighborhoods were also benefitted.

San Francisco

The duplication of the San Francisco water duct, whose first stage already had its works begun with the state government's authorization, is the final accomplishment of many years of dreams. Built during the Augusto Franco government, the water duct was working beyond its capacity for a long time and its duplication was received with cheers by all the sergipanos. When it enters into operation by the end of the year - its first stage will produce more than 1,2 million liters of water per hour for the capital. Benefitting mainly the suburbs to the north , these public works will guarantees the normalization of the water provisioning, while the government repairs all the duplication to give satisfaction to all the population.

In agreement with Petrobrás, DESO also looked for another alternative of providing water for the capital and the great Aracaju, through the drilling of wells in Ibura II'S area. The first six drilled wells present results highly positive, guaranteeing a flow of 120 thousand liters of water per hour, each one. According to the president of DESO, Arivaldo Andrade, nine more wells are being drilled and when all of them enter into operation, Aracaju will gain a reinforcement of about two million liters of water per hour.
